We've even had ventures collapse as our space burned to the ground around them resulting in billions of isk of lost towers...still pay investors back in full.
Ironically enough, the internal goon "secondary market" is more reliable than the MD based one. I've alluded to this in the past as well, but can't be bothered to dig up the post.
Defaulting/scamming a fellow (SA) goon result sin losing your SA membership doe sit not? That is what I have heard anyway.
To be clear, the word "goon" does not refer to a character in EVE Online or a person who plays EVE Online. The word "goon" refers to a real-life person who spent $10 to purchase an account on Something Awful for the privilege of posting on the forums there there. That's it. Something Awful is a comedy/humor website with a forum community that has sub-forums related to a wide range of topics, from comic books to television shows, from automotive maintenance to health and fitness, from pet care to cooking, and so on. There is also a "Games" sub-forum, which has a child forum dedicated to MMOs. In that child-forum of a sub-forum, there is one (1) solitary thread devoted to GoonWaffe. Take that in perspective. The goons that you see in EVE Online are a very small sampling of goons in general, and the average goon has no idea what the hell this terrible Internet Spaceships game is and does not care what the goons who play it do. One does not get one's access to Something Awful revoked as a penalty for something done in this game, or in any other game. One gets one's access to Something Awful revoked by posting unfunny things and/or emulating the behavior of the average brain-dead idiot with Internet access. Goons are a bunch of smug-faced sperg-lords, and we don't like it when catchphrases, image macros and regurgitated 4chan memes get brandished around by people who think they're oh-so-clever for having just discovered the "sauce" for some lolcatz GIF.
This brings us to the word "pubbies". That would be you, and everyone you know who does not have a Something Awful account. The word "pubbie" is simply a derogatory word for "the public". You see, "pubbie" is like some sort of mongoloid short-hand for "public," because while we're all smug bastards none of us were quite sharp enough to realize that "pubbie" and "public" have the same number of latters. C'est la vie. In general, goons tend to make fun of the average Internet user because we think you're all stupid. Never mind the fact that we're among the most (sometimes intentionally) inept people in the world when it comes to just about everything: the fact that we're "us" and you're "them" makes us "better than you". Why? Because.
Why did I waste your time with the above two paragraphs? To set the floor for this next one!
When goons get together to play a video game or do some other thing, we do it as a fairly tight-knit group. It's kind of like the Special Needs class at your local elementary school going on a field trip: we hold hands, sing out of key, and sometimes fail to control our biological functions. A lot of the time, we don't even make it back with our padded helmets. What you should take from all this hurfing and blurfing is that goons help goons. The number one rule of just about every goon guild is that if you want to play with goons then you don't screw over other goons. This rule has varied meanings tailored to the specific game, but in this game it includes defaulting on money borrowed from another goon or money entrusted to your management by the goon guild as a whole. You don't do that. If other goons were to default on Kalrand's loans to them, then they would get kicked from the corporation and never allowed to rejoin.
And that's been your lesson for the day. The more you know! Enjoy the character-limit text wall.

It's how we roll.
^ Pretty much this right here.

Sweet, can I contract you all my ships for easy freight to 0.0?
There is also the small matter of a 500m security deposit, but that's not a huge deal.
(you might unironically like joining one of our close blues and hanging out on our jabber more than you probably think)
More info on that? I could use the lulz.
This post unfortunately disqualifies you.

Apparently quite a few people.
We should probably stop arguing with the angry-pervert avatar.

Goons actually fund the exuberant noobs bouncing around asking for isk rather than laughing at them like we do. Goons go further and provide detailed fora posting and individual help for baby bees. Basically the idea is to set up all the people around you for success and fun. It's an odd concept, I know.
Despite protestations to the contrary, I would argue that for a null alliance Goons are not very wealthy. This will likely change in the next few months as they find themselves sucking in Tech and Neo whilst no longer pouring out Maelstroms and meta4 howitzers.
The alliance itself is not as wealthy as many individual members. This is mostly by design, so that another karttooning no longer has the chance to do as much of note/because space communism.
Our members, however, are certainly among the richest in the game. We think 10% is a minimum because we don't log in for under a billion and we don't really expect our newbies to, either. That MD thinks a 5b bond requires 10 people to fill it is actually yet another meta-troll on the Eve community by our standards.
I'm confused. Why would you compare a forum with about 50 active participants to a 5000 man alliance?
I also don't understand the significance of 10 people investing in a 5bil bond on MD. MD investors have no group affiliation with their investees and the investees will suffer pretty much zero sanctions for defaulting. Diversification of investments will be more important to MD investors than it will be to goons, as goons get higher returns and lower default rates internally. MD doesn't think a 5bil bond requires 10 people to fill it (indeed MD doesn't think anything having no group mind) and there are plenty of people here capable of filling 5bil bonds singlehandedly (and 20bil, even 100bil if you look at some of Torn Soul's recent bonds; I think Grendell might have even picked up 200bil from 2 people). That they don't fill every bond from someone they have no reason to trust doesn't really say anything.
But please, continue with the ideological propaganda. It's fun to watch and at least of slightly higher quality than the CAOD norm.
Ask yourself this: what less damning things could you honestly expect goons to post in a thread on MD? Pretty much anything we say will be dismissed as a confidence racket, a scam, a troll, or uninformed blather. There is no motivation for us to post anything you would consider 'good,' when we know that you will not consider anything that we post to be 'good'.

I think it means he's an idiot.
I'm not debating that point. But is he an idiot who is willing to indefinitely give Kalrand 10 million ISK per month rather than admit that his sick burn wasn't very clever?

Seriously though I think if I ever leave NSC it'll be to join Goons, I just don't have time to justify paying for a SA account right now.
Friendly advice: don't make your first or hundredth post in the Eve thread.
Alternative advice: I can sponsor you for a small 500m security deposit
You don't join SA to play EVE with goons. You join SA to post funny things and respond to other peoples' funny posts. It will be pretty obvious if you're a j4g (join for guild), and you'll get denied access to Goonfleet. The SA community has a wide and varied breadth of knowledge and amusement; if you pay for an account, then take advantage of it.
